Reply:Yes, it's true. My 100 year old aunt has been reading cards forever and that's what she uses. She's the only one I know though who uses an ordinary deck cards ... and she's often right when she reads someone's cards.
Reply:Yes, Starshine and Suraya were right. The interpretations are exactly the same (Diamonds are suit of Pentacles, Spades are suit of swords, Hearts are suit of cups, and Clubs are suit of wands). You'll lose the expressiveness that you might get from the major arcana cards of course, but can interpret as usual. Jack serves as both the page and the knight, the rest of the minor arcana is exactly the same.





I'd recommend small to medium sized spreads instead of very large ones. (like a simple 3 card spread, instead of a large celtic cross) Sometimes, a large spread may have two or three cards that represent the same thing. Having a larger deck can help with this, the redundant cards can add extra meaning, or show you different aspects. With a small deck, you might not have another card which applies very well.

Reply:The tarot cards were the basis of playing cards. Each of the 52 cards in a playing deck CAN somehow be linked to a matching card in the tarot, but I have no idea how. You should be able to find a site or even a book that could tell you how. You may also want to seek out someone who does tarot professionally; they may be able to teach you.

Reply:A regular deck of playing cards are used for many things beside a kind of Tarot Deck. Tex Ritter wrote a song that uses the cards as kind of a Bible and as an almanac. They can also be a calculator.
